STEP ONE
On America's 250th birthday, we take the time to recognize that this country was founded on democracy and rights for the few. But we envision a true multi-racial democracy and fight for the promise of what America could be.
That promise has always required people willing to fight for it. From abolitionists to suffragists, from civil rights organizers to disability rights advocates — every expansion of freedom in this country came because ordinary people refused to accept the gap between America's ideals and its reality.
Inequities aren't history. They are present today in voting restrictions and gerrymandered maps designed to silence Black and Brown communities. In Supreme Court decisions rolling back reproductive rights, affirmative action and other hard-won protections. In unequal access to healthcare, quality education, economic opportunity and basic safety.
For many Americans, the freedoms this day celebrates have never been fully extended to them. 250 years in, and the work isn't done. We remain committed to fighting until everyone is truly free to live and thrive.

A red swooping underline appears beneath the text. In the lower half, there is a photo of multiple Black hands with fists raised together in solidarity, surrounded by illustrated blue stars and red brushstroke accents.
