Independence Day: The promise of freedom and dignity for all. And yet, the promise is slipping from the horizon with every new attack on our democracy.
Authoritarianism is on the rise. Freedom of speech is under attack. Voting power is being stripped across the country. Congressional maps are being gerrymandered to dilute Black and brown voices. Supreme Court decisions are stripping away our rights. There is unequal access to healthcare, education, safety and economic justice. Our communities are facing waves of renewed threats — history is not in the past.
250 years in, and the work isn't done. We're still fighting, and we won't back down.
