Sixty years ago, the Voting Rights Act was passed, banning racial discrimination at the ballot box.

Since then, extremist lawmakers and the wealthy elite have continued trying to make it harder to make our voices heard through gerrymandering, voter ID laws, voter roll purges, voter intimidation, and more. In 2025, we’ve only seen these attempts to steal our rights and resources increase.

These are coordinated attacks on the freedom to vote, and make no mistake: They target Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, low-income, young, and new voters the most.

As part of the @State Voices Affiliated Network, we continue to fight for a reality where everyone's voices are heard and our communities are represented. From @Alabama Forward successfully stopping extremist lawmakers from disenfranchising Black voters in Allen v. Milligan to @Minnesota Voices’ expanding access to the ballot box to 55,000 Minnesotans impacted by incarceration, our network’s fight for voting rights continues year round.
