On America's 250th birthday, we take the time to recognize that this country was founded on democracy and rights for the few. But we envision a true multi-racial democracy and fight for the promise of what America could be. That promise has always required people willing to fight for it. Every expansion of freedom in this country's history came because ordinary people refused to accept the gap between America's ideals and its reality. Inequities aren't history — they are present today, in voting restrictions and gerrymandered maps drawn to silence Black and brown communities. In Supreme Court decisions that have rolled back reproductive rights and other hard-won protections. In unequal access to healthcare, quality education, economic opportunity and the freedom to simply live safely. For many Americans, the freedom this day celebrates has never been fully extended to them. 250 years in, and the work isn't done. We remain committed to fighting until everyone is truly free to live and thrive. Juneteenth reminds us that liberation doesn't come from a single moment. It comes from people refusing to be silenced, generation after generation. Right now, we are fighting for the safety and freedom of our people. Black voters and communities continue to face systematic efforts to dilute their voices — through gerrymandering and redistricting maps drawn to divide and diminish, through voting restrictions that make it harder to show up and through Supreme Court decisions that have rolled back hard-won protections. Our democracy is only as strong as the voices it includes. This Juneteenth, we honor everyone who marched, organized and sacrificed for the right to be heard until slaves were emancipated. We remain committed to protecting everyone's right — in our communities, in the courts and at the ballot box. Happy Pride Month! 🌈 This June, we celebrate our TLGBQIA+ community with joy, love and by honoring our history and the incredible resilience of the activists who came before us. As we celebrate, we also acknowledge what our TLGBQIA+ community faces right now. Across the country, we're seeing a wave of legislation targeting transgender individuals — especially youth — along with rising rates of discrimination and violence. Pride started as a protest movement, and that spirit of standing up for dignity and justice is just as important today as it ever was. So this month — and every month — let's celebrate loudly, advocate fiercely and remind every person in our lives that they are seen, loved and worthy. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ #HappyPride #PrideMonth #TLGBQIA Image Description: A graphic with a light beige background and a white quote card with blue bold text that says "[QUOTE]" Below the quote is "[First Name, Last Name]" and "[Title, Organization]" in black text. Over the last few months, the billionaire agenda has slashed social services and Medicaid, dismantled basic government functions, overseen mass firings, targeted immigrant communities, and gutted worker protections — all while driving up the cost of everyday life for working people. Independence Day: The promise of freedom and dignity for all. And yet, the promise is slipping from the horizon with every new attack on our democracy. Authoritarianism is on the rise. Freedom of speech is under attack. Voting power is being stripped across the country. Congressional maps are being gerrymandered to dilute Black and brown voices. Supreme Court decisions are stripping away our rights. There is unequal access to healthcare, education, safety and economic justice. Our communities are facing waves of renewed threats — history is not in the past. 250 years in, and the work isn't done. We're still fighting, and we won't back down. #July4th #America250 #IndependenceDay
In the last few years, decades of progress have been rolled back for Black and brown communities. This year, as we reflect on how far we've come since the emancipation of slaves, we call out the hard-fought wins that are being stripped from us. We cannot let the regression continue. Today, on Juneteenth, we call on our communities to keep showing up. Keep fighting. Keep voting. Keep organizing.
